Gram Parsons
As I mentioned in the YouTube series, Gram and I went to military school at Bolles (now a prep school K-12). If you look up especially USA Southern Music you will see that Gram is the Father of Country Rock.
He had an illustrious career – The Guess Who, The International Submarine Band, The Flying Burritos and then a solo one with Emmylou Harris until an accidental overdose of alcohol and drugs took his life in Joshua Tree on September 19, 1973.
As I also mentioned Gram has been the subject of books and documentaries but the voters at both the Rock N Roll HOF and Country Music HOF have NEVER inducted this legend of America music. Rolling Stone put out a list of those 100, who had the most influence on American Music and Gram was on it at #88!
So I want to start a campaign to end this BS by write in campaign to both HOFs and phone calls that jam up their lines! After leaving the DJ world I entered radio then TV news world. I was one of the first consumer investigative reporters at Post Newsweek TV Group in the late 60s. I hold the distinction of creating a series there that led to the eventual BANKRUPTCY AND SHUT DOWN of the USA’s largest transmission repair company for scamming customers into putting in new ones!
When I find an injustice like snubbing a legend of American music like Gram I become like a pit bull!
Light up the phones and email both the Country Music and Rock N Roll HOF! Also email your favorite performers especially in USA Southern Music like the Allman Brothers, Molly Hatchett, Susan Tedeshi and Butch Trucks, Blackfoot, 38 Special, Lynyrd Skynyrd, etc. as they may have voting privileges at one or the other HOFs.
